Peter Sturges Ruckman has been the foremost defender of the King James Bible for decades. While charismatic figures like Jack Hyles were still undermining the authority of the English scriptures, Dr. Ruckman was steadfastly proclaiming the preserved word of God in English, the King James Bible.
From the Bible Baptist Bookstore:
Dr. Peter S. RuckmanĀ received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama and finished his formal education with six years of training at Bob Jones University (four full years and two accelerated summer sessions), completing requirements for the Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Reading at a rate of seven hundred words per minute, Dr. Ruckman had managed to read about 6,500 books before receiving his doctorate, and he still reads an average of a book each day.
Dr. Ruckman stands for the absolute authority of the Authorized Version and offers no apology to any recognized scholar anywhere for his stand. In addition to preaching the gospel and teaching the Bible, Dr. Ruckman has produced a comprehensive collection of apologetic and polemic literature and resources supporting the authority of the Authorized Version of the Holy Scriptures.
Now approaching 92 years of age, Dr. Ruckman has never wavered in his defense of and stance on the King James Bible. Dr. Ruckman has become a very polarizing figure in “fundamentalism,” as issues both of the King James Bible and Dispensationalism have become litmus tests for a person being a “Ruckmanite.”
Dr. Ruckman has been criticized for his often aggressive style, and for the enjoyable but often “rabbit-trail chasing” manner of his books in which he excoriates those who undermine the authority of the English scriptures. He has authored dozens of books, including the Bible Believer’s Commentary series, covering most of the books of the Bible, in addition to numerous booklets on doctrinal issues.
This site is based on the derogatory name that is often attributed to those of us who tend to line up with Dr. Ruckman. We respect Dr. Ruckman for his faithfulness and appreciate him for his contributions to Bible Believing Christianity.
